Conditions

These include:

  • Kerataconus – the normally dome-shaped cornea progressively thins, causing a cone-like bulge to develop.  This can cause significant visual impairment, which glasses cannot correct.
  • Corneal scars
  • Complex Contact Lenses for High Prescriptions
  • Astigmatism – blurred vision due to an oval-shaped eye
  • Dry eyes

Our expert solutions

  • RGP (Rigid Gas Permeable) contact lenses– for complicated prescriptions, including High Prescriptions. We supply bespoke lenses from a range of manufacturers, having the expertise to customise them as necessary.
  • Scleral lenses – larger lenses that sit over the white of the eye as well, providing greater cushioning for those with diseased corneas as well as normal eye health
  • Corneal cross-linking – which can prevent the progression of keratoconus when detected early enough, and the many problems associated with it.  If this is an appropriate treatment for you, we will refer you to hospital for corneal cross-linking, which involves vitamin B2 being dropped onto the cornea and then exposed to ultra-violet light, forming new bonds between the collagen molecules in the cornea to strengthen it.
  • Soft contacts for astigmatism – sophisticated lenses that stay in place so your vision is clear, no matter where you look including bespoke designs.
  • Dry eyes – specialist contact lenses for dry eyes or more tailored solutions.

Testimonial

"Having suffered an eye injury which required treatment from Moorfield Eye Hospital, I wanted to find a local specialist optician who would be able to assist with the fitting of a Scleral lens. I was put in contact with Mr Shoker at Kings Hill Opticians, who worked tirelessly with me for six months until the correct fitting lens was found. I really am very grateful and would like to highly recommend Mr Shoker as he went the extra mile and the lens has been nothing short of life changing, enabling me to have much improved level of vision."
