What are they?

Wet and Dry Age-Related Macular Degeneration are conditions that affect the macular area of your retina (the bit at the back your eye that receives light and sends electrical impulses to the optic nerve).  The damage can cause vision loss, typically in the centre of your vision – exactly where you are focusing.  This can severely impact on your quality of life. 

E-scoop lenses provide an innovative solution to this; they effectively change the angle at which light enters eye, so it is focused on a healthy bit of your retina. This won’t remove the blurred or blacked-out area of your vision, but it can move it to a non-central part of your field of vision, significantly improving your eyesight and your ability to continue doing everyday tasks, such as reading.

These benefits can also improve the vision of patients with glaucoma and diabetic retinopathy.
