Dry eyes

Holistic analysis, optimal solutions

The combination of our state-of-the-art diagnostic equipment and taking time to understand your lifestyle enables us to provide effective, tailored solutions for dry eyes.

Kings Hill Opticians’ expertise

  1. Hospital-quality equipment: including anterior segment eye photography enables us to identify any underlying conditions, such as blepharitis, which could be causing your dry eyes.
  2. Understanding the problem: We take the time to understand your lifestyle to identify how that may be contributing.  We attend many training events to improve our knowledge of dry eyes, including close relationships with tear substitute manufacturers.
  3. Bespoke solutions: We discuss solutions with you tailored to tackle the cause of your dry eyes.
  4. Professional collaboration: We liaise effectively with other health-care professionals so you enjoy joined-up health care.
  5. Regular monitoring: Our experienced opticians check your eye health with our state-of-the-art equipment to track the effectiveness of any treatment and adjust your treatment plan if necessary.

We aim to provide relief from the symptoms of dry eyes, which can include:

  • Dryness, grittiness or soreness
  • Burning and red eyes
  • Eyelids that stick together when you wake up
  • Temporary blurred vision
  • Watering eyes – which can occur if your eyes try to alleviate your discomfort by producing more tears

Conditions

Dry eyes are often linked to other conditions, including:

  • Blepharitis – an infection on the eyelashes
  • Meibomian gland dysfunction – when the small glands that secrete the oily part of tears become blocked
  • Allergic conjunctivitis – inflammation caused by an allergy, usually to pollen or dust mites
  • Watery Eyes – can be associated with dry eyes

Our expert solutions

  • Lifestyle modifications – including changes to your diet and working environments
  • Eye drops – including preservative-free drops and ‘oily’ tear eye drops
  • Scleral lenses – larger lenses that that sit over the white of the eye as well, providing greater comfort for some dry-eye sufferers
  • Surgery – in severe cases, surgery may be considered.  We will refer you as necessary to the right eye team to consider whether this is a suitable option for you.

Testimonial

"I have been a customer for several years and have always been impressed by the care and exceptional service which Kings Hill Opticians offer.  In particular, Kathy, Nicola and Jatinder are wonderful – always so helpful with great service, especially to someone like me who is hopeless at choosing the spectacles that suit me!!  They are all so efficient and go out of their way for their customers, showing incredible patience.  Kathy recently arranged for me to visit when one of your sales representatives came in to choose some spectacles as we were having problems finding the right ones for me.  Tania is fantastic and has assisted me through a bad time when I was suffering from dry eye, seeing me at short notice on several occasions which I really appreciated.  What else can I say, you are the best!"
